Reflection on the health care discussion
Alright so this being our first discussion for Government I'd have to say that it was really interesting to be in. I'll also admit that I defiantly feel more comfortable in going into them. As Mr. Palo said, we weren't there to be spectators even though to be honest that is very hard to do because everyone's opinions were solid and had good points to them. Enough about that so onto what we talked about on Friday concerning health care. First off, what Mark brought out was something that I think we have all thought about. 'How are we going to pay for it?' Taking into mind that we are still in an economic trouble. Going on that idea we went onto how Obama is paying probably too much attention on the health care reform and not on the rest of the things like that of employment as well as all the other issues that he said he would address during his campaign for President. If he were to put his attention evenly on other problems, solving them, perhaps people would be more perceptive to this health care reform. Another thing that was something else to put to our minds was the way that money is earned and used. Such as that of Celebrities, Sports, Military, Prisons, etc. How the government so much on these things but yet it really isn't being put to the good of the cause. Alex made a valid point when he said how much is put into the prisons and how even they get health care that WE pay for as Americans. Which I'm still trying to comprehend.. Because they in some way destroyed a moral, ethical, and legal right of someone of something, yet they get treated to health care and a functioning living society like we do up here. But heck maybe even at some degree better. I guess it all came down to whether or not health care should be a privilege or a right. All in all I liked the discussion we had.
